The month of Savaan is a time of fasting, worship, and celebration for many devotees, especially women. In Uttar Pradesh, the Savaan celebrations are marked by various rituals and traditions, such as swinging on swings, singing folk songs, applying henna, and wearing green bangles.
On August 22, 2023, a special Savaan celebration was organized by the Sakhi Kendra and Nawo UP. The event was held in Kakori, and was attended by hundreds of women.
The aim of the event was to educate and inspire the women about their legal and social rights, as well as to provide them with a platform to showcase their talents and skills. The event featured a questionnaire competition, where the women were asked questions related to various laws and schemes that can benefit them. The winners of the competition were awarded with prizes.
The event also included a cultural program, where the women performed various dances, songs, skits, and poems on themes such as gender equality, women’s empowerment, social justice, and environmental awareness.
One of the highlights of the event was the swing that was put on a neem tree in the premises. The women enjoyed swinging on it and singing traditional Savaan songs. The swing symbolized their freedom and happiness, as well as their bond with nature.
The Savaan celebration was a successful and memorable event that not only entertained but also enlightened the women who participated in it. It was a day of empowerment and joy for them.
